New project on gambling business taxation was sent to Federation Council

Earlier, we reported that legislative drafts that could have a huge impact on gambling in Russia reached the third reading stage at the State Duma. At a recent meeting, they were both accepted and sent to the Federation Council.

The main focus is on document No. 1037957-6, which is designed to increase sector taxes by two times. This applies to both actual gambling establishments and online services. New bets are described in detail in our previous material.

Head of the bookmakers SRO, Darina Denisova, commented on the new legislations. In her opinion, many bookmakers will have to revise their business strategies for 2018, abandoning betting shops in favor of the online sector.

Denisova noted that the transition to digital format is a positive prospect for the domestic market, but it would be much more natural if it happened in the course of development and not under taxation pressure.
