Russian Federation plans to raise gambling taxes twofold
06.11.2017

This Friday, November 10, the Russian Parliament will be reviewing the amendment of legislation aimed to increase gambling taxes almost twofold. All the details about the promotion of the project are available on the website of the Legislation Support System.

According to the amendment to the article №369 of the Russian Tax Code, monthly fees will include:

  • 3-15 thousand rubles for a slot machine;
  • 10-14 thousand rubles for a betting shop;
  • 50-250 thousand rubles for a gaming table;
  • 2.5-3 million rubles for an online betting processing center.

If the changes are adopted, the new law will come into effect on January 1, 2018. It is also planned to introduce taxes on the net profit for casinos.

The chances are high that the amendment will be passed, as gambling taxes have not been increased for over 10 years (since 2004). Representatives of the Russian Ministry of Finance believe that changes are needed to replenish the national budget.
