Russia will double taxes for betting shops and slot machines

Alexei Moiseev, deputy finance minister, told this at the financial forum in Moscow.

He explained that the tax amount for betting shops and slot machines haven’t been corrected for 10 years. Currently, it should be index-tied.

The Ministry of Finance is drafting a bill on twofold increase but there is more to come. If increased taxes turn out not to be too exorbitant, they can be increased again.

Nowadays, each territorial entity of the Russian Federation is establishing their own rates for gambling business within the boundaries determined on the federal level. Well, the least tax from a slot machine is 1500 rubles, and the highest one is 7500 rubles. As for betting shops and bookmaker companies, these figures are ranging from 5000 to 7000 rubles.
