A law on blocking mirror sites is discussed
30.11.2016

The State Duma is looking for new methods of combating pirated content, discussing the law on automatic blocking of pirated sites’ mirrors.

A mirror site is a resource with duplicated content of the main website.  It is usually created by a violator to minimize the consequences of blocking the main site. As soon as the website is blocked, the program will automatically start searching for resources with the same content.

Earlier, in 2013, the anti-piracy law entered into force, which applied to illegal video content. In 2015, the law expanded to include music, books and software. According to the law, a website can be blocked forever for further violations.
