According to experts, MasterCard will have a good influence on the Russia-based bookmaker market

Russia-based legal bookmaker business will embark on the stage of development. That is how a practicing lawyer in e-commerce Vladimir Aktanaev has commented on the MasterCard’s decision on permitting internal transactions with won money across the Russian Federation.

“In terms of legal Russia-based bookmaker business, I think that enabling operations under MCC 7995 would encourage the betting market development,” said the expert. “For MasterCard, such transactions pose a high risk due to the exceeding number of payment returns. Since MasterCard representatives have decided on it, they probably see the prospects of the country’s bookmaker market boosting.”

That explains Vladimir Aktanaev’s positive attitude towards the news. However, he expresses another point of view on gambling: “According to the Federal Law № 244-FZ, gambling business either beyond special areas or online is banned in the state. Correspondingly, taking into account the shadow segment of casino/betting gambling, I think that changes would not be apparent.”
