G2E opens doors

25.09.2013
The Global Gaming Expo (better known as G2E) opened its doors at the Sands Convention Center, Las Vegas today for a three-day run which is expected to attract over 25,000 gaming professionals from all over the world to an event which is 10 per cent larger than last year.

The world’s largest gambling industry event, G2E 2013 has 455 companies from all sectors of the market and 125 of them will be new to the show. Thirty-two countries are represented among the exhibitors, including Australia, Canada, China, Germany, Japan, Korea, Mexico, South Africa, Taiwan and the UK.

The key undercurrent of the show will be the industry’s preparations for the advent of online gambling in the US market. With only Nevada up and running – although New Jersey is almost ready – the real accent is on the succession of other jurisdictions which will certainly follow in due course.

How the established and traditional market will handle that is not immediately clear. While plenty of specialist i-gaming product suppliers are in evidence, most of them are waiting for the market to fully open, while all of the traditional casino slots and tables suppliers are hedging their bets with online product portfolios.

A full report on the G2E show will appear in our next issue of InterGaming and selected news items on our website as the event progresses.
