Dmitry Medvedev: “Sochi became year-round world-class resort”

Dmitry Medvedev, Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, held a meeting dedicated to operation of Winter Games objects in Sochi.

He said that established infrastructure provided the growth of the tourist flow, which amount reached 6.5 million previous year.

According to Prime Minister, the share of 2014 Olympics capital in total Krasnodar region’s revenues for ten years increased 3.5 times.

The project on establishing a year-round world-class resort was implemented, he stressed.

Besides, Dmitry Medvedev announced the necessity to continue the development, for instance, to join all ski trails into cluster, design a common lift pass for them and construct wire cableways. Beyond that, he mentioned entrepreneurs’ offer to increase the amount of Lastochka trains that go between small towns in Russia.

One of projects focusing on transformation of Olympics objects into tourist ones is the establishment of Krasnaya Polyana gambling zone. So, the press center, constructed for 2014 competitions, was reconstructed for casino. It is expected that this venue will bring at least 500 million rubles per year to the regional budget and increase the tourist flow in Sochi.
