Tennis is again the leader among ‘suspicious’ games in the 2-nd quarter of 2017

The quarterly report has been again published by the European Sports Security Association (ESSA). Tennis is again the leader according to the number of suspicious match results. This sports activity includes more than a half of events mentioned by the experts: 31 out of 51.

Also, the following results of suspicious matches were noticed in the second quarter of the current year as well:

  • 15 – football;
  • 5 – basketball;
  • 1 – volleyball;
  • 1 – handball.

In the previous quarter, ESSA specialists found 27 similar cases with the following disciplinary correlation:

  • 12 – tennis;
  • 4 – football, volleyball;
  • 2 – snooker and basketball.

Fixed matches is one of the most important problems of betting industry. The Council of Europe and ESSA are planning to establish the internationally standardized Convention of Fixed Matches based on collected information.
