Bets on non-sports events ban - Finance Ministry bill

Russia may ban betting on non-sports events. It is a new draft to the bill of the Russian Ministry of Finance, regulating gambling.

The gist of the bill may be divided into two parts:

• Ban on non-sports events offline and online betting (the Oscars, the end of the world, etc.);
• Tax: operators will have to pay 10% of their quarterly sales income in favor of domestic sports.

Earlier a draft law on criminal and administrative liability was developed in the government, applying to those who provide premises for illegal gambling. The document was approved by the Committee on legislative activities.
