Moscow City Council suggests banning organization of gambling in the internet

Today deputies of Moscow City Council decided to amend the draft federal law on harshering punishment for organizing and conducting illegal gambling to the State Duma. Moscow deputies suggest banning organization of gambling in the internet and blocking relevant websites.

As deputy of City Council Inna Svyatenko says that despite provision made by internal affairs agencies the problem of increasing the effectiveness of combating illegal organization and conducting of gambling remains relevant. This problem exists not only in Moscow but in many regions of Russian Federation.

Since the beginning of the year 17 casinos and poker clubs, 98 slot halls, 556 lottery and internet clubs, 99 betting shops in Moscow were ceased to exist because of breaches in operation.

According to Svyatenko, illegal gambling establishments use information and communication networks, including Internet, and with the help of SMS messages only proven players are invited to play. And e-payment system does not allow establishing responsibility for the organizers and players.
